It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Laurie on July 15th, 2024, with family by his side.
Rob will be lovingly remembered by; his son Robert James (RJ) and granddaughter Layla, his youngest son Garrett (Destiny) and their mother Dianna, his mother Claudette (Berger), brothers Edward, Stephen, and sister Michelle (Blake) and grandmother Kay Laurie. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. He also leaves his oldest son Gordon Sand from a previous relationship.
Rob was predeceased by his father Gordon Laurie (2017), son Ryan Sand (2024), grandparents Simone and Albert Berger, grandfather Robert Laurie, and uncle Kenny Laurie.
Rob was born on July 22, 1966, a beautiful summer day. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, driving tow-truck, watching French TV, all types of yard work, checking in on both his grandmothers, and, in particular he loved our large extended family. What he loved the most was being a father and grandfather to Layla. If there was a gathering of the clans, you could always count on Rob’s presence and that of his family. Rob always welcomed and enjoyed his visitors at Riverview where Rob resided for 8 plus years. His weekend calls and his light-hearted sense of humour will be sorely missed by all.
At Robert’s request there will be no service, however there will be a celebration of life for family and close friends at a later date.
Special thanks to aunt Diane Berger for her weekly coffee visits. Heartful thanks to the 2East staff at Riverview Health Centre for their care, compassion and friendship. Special thanks to HSC Emergency Department staff, Medical ICU staff, and especially to GH6 staff who went above and beyond in their care for Robert and his family in his last days.
If you so wish, donations may be made in memory of Robert Gordon Laurie
