May 11, 1943 - March 25, 2014
Surrounded by family, Roman Valach passed away in his home after a brief illness on March 25, 2014 at the age of 70 years old.
Roman will be lovingly remembered by his family: his wife Teresita Valach; sons Michael and Martin; daughter Maila Gabriel (Randy Matthes). Roman had a strong loving bond with all his grandchildren: Benaise Rivers, Root Valach, Shekhinah Valach (Emily Rivers); and Leah Gabrielle Matthes. Lolo will always be in our hearts.
He is predeceased by his parents Lujza Valachova and Hugo Valach; and his first wife Lois Elaine Valach. He is survived by his only sister Victoria Zachar (Marian Zachar); niece Maria-Louisa Zachar (Ken Kornel) with their children Britney, Cailee and Alieya; and nephew Adam Zachar.
Born in Slovakia, Roman became enchanted with Canada and imagery of its wilderness. He enjoyed road trips and outdoor activities year-round with his family. Always professional in his work in commercial painting and photography, he retired happily to continue developing his Pinawa retreat and continued to enjoy time well-spent at Oak Falls campsite.
With sly humour, Roman kept everyone laughing in any language. His love of music inspired son Martin and grandson Root to excel even beyond his own abilities in drumming and performing. Roman’s encompassing appreciation for colour and art, reading and adventure, and music will continue to inspire all his children and grandchildren. We will be his living legacy.
For their compassion, knowledge and care, our family thanks Dr. George Balko and St. Boniface Clinic; the nurses, doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Cancer Care and Palliative Home Care Program. Thank you to all our family and friends who brought food, support and prayers throughout this difficult time.
The service will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Klassen Funeral Home.
