It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Russell Rosen on Thursday, August 27, 2026, just short of his 85th birthday. He passed away at his home with family by his side.
Russ will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Doreen, who he was married to for 60 years. He will also be lovingly remembered by his daughter Anita (Jamie) Barron, son Wade (Karissa) Rosen and grandchildren Jessica Barron, Zachary Barron and Ozzy Thompson. He is survived by his sister Adele Rosen of Winnipeg, sister Dorothy (Steve) Diduch of Kelowna, brother Douglas (Bonnie) Rosen of Plumas, sister Sharon (Myron) Fehr of Morden and many nieces and nephews. Russ was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Rosen of Morden and his sister Gloria Kenney of Surrey.
Russell was born and raised on family farms in the Manitou area. At the age of sixteen, he moved to Winnipeg to pursue employment, resulting in a 50-year career in the IT industry. Russ was an avid baseball and county music fan, collector and author. Russ was devoted to his family and found great joy in watching his children and grandchildren succeed in life.
Cremation has taken place and, at Russell’s request, there will not be a funeral. Instead, a celebration of life will take place in May 2027.
The family would like to thank everyone at Palliative Care for their kindness and compassion, as well as all of Russell’s family and friends that offered their support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Russ can be made to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choosing.
