Dearly Missed

Suddenly, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, Sandra (Sandi) Godard passed away.

She is survived by her children Sean (Jennifer) and Krista (Darren). Her six grandchildren; Nicholas, Joshua, Peyton, Jordan, Jakob, and Ava. She also leaves behind her sister Karen (Grant). Also grieving are her nieces and nephews; Kim (Ryan), Ian (Chrissy), Dara, Kyna, Keiran, Damien, Janine, Scott, Darcie, Lauren and great niece Ally, as well as her ex-husband Martin (Jennifer).

She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Sybil.

Sandi was born to Sybil and Alec in 1952 in Winnipeg. Her family later moved to Gimli where she spent her formative years. When her father was stationed back to Winnipeg, the family moved to where Sandi graduated high school at DMCI.

Sandi then went on to graduate with her Respiratory Technician Certification and began her career at St. Boniface Hospital which spanned more than 40 years.

In 1976 she started her family with the birth of Sean, followed by Krista two years later. After the birth of her daughter, she changed careers to Unit Assistant to spend as much time as possible with her children.

Sandi was a supportive and loving mother. She could always be found cheering her kids on at sporting events, dance performances or band concerts. Sandi quite often became a second mother to classmates of her children or any of the children she met. Her calm and understanding demeanor were loved by all who met her.

Sandi’s greatest love was her grandchildren. She would gush about them to anyone willing to listen. Her six grandchildren were the loves of her life and her proudest achievement.

Sandi could often be found at St. Vital Center with her friends having their weekly coffee dates, that have spanned more than two decades.

Sandi will be missed by all who knew her.

“Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and held so dear.” - unknown.

Celebration of Life will be Friday October 25,2024 at the United Church in Meadowood

at 1pm. 1111 Dakota Street.
