Peacefully, following a lengthy illness, we announce the passing of Sean James McCaughey, with his parents by his side, on September 18, 2026, at the age of 48 years.
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Keegan and Gavin; parents, Michele and Grant; sister, Erin (Bryce); niece, Scarlett; nephew, Evan; and his dear companion, Tina. He also leaves behind his uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his aunt, Theresa, whom he remembered fondly.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Aug 16, 1978, Sean spent his childhood in the Niverville area, where he built friendships and memories that stayed with him throughout his life. He attended Niverville Collegiate Institute and grew into a young man who loved sports—hockey, baseball, golf, and high school volleyball all brought him joy.
In 2006, Sean began his career at UPS, where he formed lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. He took pride in knowing every street and back lane of his route through downtown Winnipeg and Elmwood.
Sean’s love for sports continued throughout adulthood. He was a proud supporter of the Jets and Bombers, and through his work, he especially enjoyed delivering to the Jets organization and getting to know the staff.
Sean loved his boys. He enjoyed taking them to sports events, teaching them how to skate and ride a bike, building a backyard rink, tossing the football, attending their games, and biking along Sturgeon Creek. He was so proud of all their accomplishments.
Wherever Sean went, he made friends. He loved meeting people and made connections easily. He was always ready to lend a hand to his friends and neighbors, and his absence will be deeply felt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 1, 2026, at 2:00pm at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg. A livestream of the service will be available.
