Sheila Netta Collison

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sheila Collison on March 4, 2023 at the age of 91 years.

Sheila is survived by loving sons Jerome and Dornel, daughter-in-law Bonita as well as her grandson Spencer. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Wilfred in September 2010 after 49 years of marriage.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Sheila missed her home dearly after moving to Canada. For Wilfred and Sheila, making Canada their home meant taking the time to get to know neighbors and sharing many social events together while adjusting to and appreciating a different culture and climate. Their hearts were open to meeting new people and adapting to a country that they came to love. Sheila loved to cook and would find joy in feeding anyone that came by her home, making sure that any friends or family who stopped by would leave with a full belly of her wonderful cooking.

Gardening was hobby and a source of pride for Sheila. She enjoyed caring for her flower beds and gave special attention to her large variety of beautiful Dahlia flowers. Back in the 70’s, family time with their children was treasured with roads trips in a hot, unconditioned car and visits to the farm, then barbecues in the backyard as the boys got older.

Dornel and Jerome have many fond memories and had the opportunity to spend quality time and reminisce with their beloved mother before she passed. Although Sheila's memory began to fade, her sweet and cheerful disposition never changed and will be in the hearts of those who knew her, forever. The staff who cared for Sheila in her final days at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home were truly amazing, kind and thoughtful. The love and care provided to her was a blessing and will be remembered.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd.,Winnipeg, MB.
