Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Gail, son Leigh, sisters Barb and Karen, brother-in-law Ken (Bonnie), nephew Scott (Steve), nieces Sandi (Ron), Bailey (Chris), Ivy, grandnieces, Alyssa (Niko), Eva, grandnephew, Fox and furry family, Tango and Rio.
Terry was born and raised in Minneapolis and moved to Winnipeg in the 70’s. In his younger years he enjoyed many camping trips and large family reunions with his parents and sisters. He acquired many varied skills from his father, a professional tool and die maker and interest in all things culinary from his mother. Terry was an avid athlete showing great skills at cycling, squash, down hill, cross country and water skiiing. During his youth he enjoyed roller skating and playing hockey.
He worked in the drywall business for many years. Later in life, after retirement he worked as a driver for Westcoast Kids. He developed many friendships at the stores and took great pride in his job. He also volunteered at the Christmas Cheer Board for several years where he enjoyed the comradery of his co-workers.
Terry was an amazing craftsman. He built exquisite furniture, custom wooden boxes and beautiful stained glass pieces. His proudest accomplishment was the completion of a hand built cedar strip canoe with the assistance of his friend Jack. His craftsmanship was generously offered to others including the building of Ken’s boathouse. He was always the first one up working on the project. He provided his guidance and skills to help friends, Rick and Stephanie with their numerous cottage renovations. He was particularly proud of the planning and building of their Sunset Deck, a place where he, Gail, Rick and Stephanie enjoyed for many years. His absence will forever be felt.
Terry had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Copies of Popular Mechanics, Fine Woodworking and Time magazines were always nearby.
The family would like to thank the many friends, family and co-workers who helped Terry during his illness. We are grateful for the support and services provided by CancerCare and Palliative Manitoba.
As we bid farewell to Terry, let us carry forward the love, laughter, wisdom and energy he brought into our lives.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
If friends so wish, donations can be made to CancerCare, Manitoba or an animal shelter of your choice.
