Timothy Woods Brown

Peacefully, on Sunday evening with his wife and daughters at his side, Tim ended his courageous battle with lung cancer. The day was filled with visits from family. Reminiscing, sharing laughs and tears.

Tim leaves behind his loving wife Heather of 49 years (almost 50!). They were married April 4, 1970. Tim forever loved Heather and truly knew how fortunate he was to have such a Beautiful, Devoted and Giving Lady in his life. Heather was Tim’s lifelong love, and he was hers. In all his years at Riverview she was his never wavering number one advocate and caregiver.

Also left to mourn his passing are his daughters, Laura Brown, Mary (Mike) Wolanik and Margo (Doug) Singleton and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Courtney, Justin, Nathan, Michael and Catey.

Tim is also survived by his brother, Drummond (Kathy) Brown and his sister, Margot Brown, as well as several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Margot (Sissy) for her weekly visits with Tim.

Tim was born and raised in Winnipeg and made it his lifelong home.

Tim furthered his education and became a Journeyman Electrician. He always loved fixing and building things and could not have picked a better profession for himself. Tim worked in several areas of his trade over the years of his career. His final 10 years he was employed at Manitoba Housing as a Maintenance Supervisor. He truly loved his job and all the people he met. Tim chose and continued to work full time until the age of 70, when he was forced to stop after suffering a stroke in 2012.

Tim was never one to sit still. He was always willing to lend a hand. He would show up in his little red truck ready to work. It didn’t matter if it was demolition (his favorite job!), cutting down large trees or clearing your snow – he was your guy!

Since September 2012, Tim has resided at Riverview Health Centre. During his time there, many of the caring and devoted staff became like family to him. His final months were spent on 2 East. Tim received exceptional care and his family is forever grateful. A special Thank you to Dr. L. Blom and the wonderful caring staff.

In following with Tim’s wishes we will not be having a formal funeral. His family would like to invite you to join us for a Come and Go, Celebration of Life on Thursday January 16, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
