It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Timothy John Dyck on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Born in Winnipeg, Tim was the only child of Joan and Johnny Dyck. Tim grew up in Elmwood, attending Lord Selkirk Elementary and graduating from Elmwood High School in 1977. From his earliest days at Lord Selkirk through High School to today, his love of sport was unmistakeable. He loved and played all sports including Hockey, Baseball, Curling, Football, Badminton, Bowling, Shuffleboard and of course a plethora of board and card games.
Tim was a member at a number of golf courses including Elmhurst, St. Boniface, Terra Nova Golf Course in Newfoundland and Rossmere Country Club. As an avid golfer with a five handicap, he loved to compete and won many club matches and championships, even against younger players with longer, more accurate drives. Tim’s age, experience and calm nerves prevailed. His hole-in-ones at Glen Abbey Golf Club and Rossmere remain the stuff of legends among his many golfing friends. When he wasn’t on the links, he kept active with pickleball and walking everywhere.
Tim’s professional journey began at Richardson Grain Exchange as a Trader and then life led him into transportation, where he worked with Arnold Bros. Transport and Bison Transport before retiring from TransX as Fleet Manager. To his colleagues he was a trusted leader; to his friends he was the life of every gathering with an infectious smile. From a regular Elmwood High breakfast at the Legion to backyard bonfires and parties he never failed to turn heads—always impeccably dressed, even when stoking the fire.
Tim had two other loves since childhood and they were dogs and sweets. He especially loved his dog, Chimo. Whenever Tim saw any dogs, he had to stop, pet them and get them to play for a bit.
Tim's love for candy and sweets was well known by anyone who spent time around him. He found it impossible to pass up any nut-free desserts or dainties. It was not unusual to find his empty candy bag(s) or a Big Turk wrapper after any time watching TV.
Later in life he met Brenda his “Sweetheart” and “Partner in Crime”. They built and enjoyed a life of adventure and laughter together, making homes both in Winnipeg and on Canada’s East Coast.
They enjoyed holidaying in Mexico and Cuba each winter, and spent recent summers on their coastal property in Newfoundland, where they were deep into the process of building an oceanfront home. Since being in Newfoundland, Tim fell in love with the neighbour’s cat, Yoshi (aka Kitty). He and Brenda enjoyed the walks in their neighbourhood and along forest trails. They planned on getting a couple of Tuxedo cats for their new home.
It was in Newfoundland that Tim discovered deep-sea fishing, learning the ropes from his brother-in-law, Joyles forging memories that will be forever cherished.
He will be remembered for his boundless positivity, his quick wit, and the genuine warmth with which he embraced every friend, cousin and teammate. His laughter and smile was contagious and his loyalty, unwavering.
Tim was predeceased by his parents, Joan and Johnny Dyck.
He leaves behind, with an abundance of treasured memories, his loving wife Brenda.
He is lovingly remembered by Laurel & Fred, Ed & Mildred, Geneva & Harve, Calven, Randell & Wanda, Brendon & Viola, Wanda & Paul, and Joyles & Bernice. Tim’s passing also leaves a deep void in the hearts of his many cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends (too many to mention). All who were fortunate to know him will forever cherish the times they shared.
Brenda and family extend their heartfelt thanks to the members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the physicians and nurses of the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Department for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 1:30pm at the Rossmere Country Club, 925 Watt Street, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, you could honour Tim’s memory with a donation to the charity of your choice.
