In loving memory of Vernalie Pandora Robinson, 76, of Lacovia, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, who passed peacefully on January 11, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born April 2, 1949, Vernalie was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was the proud mother of eight children and is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vernalie spoke with her children every day, providing words of wisdom, unconditional love and care is what we will miss most. Her kitchen was her sanctuary, a gift to the world. An extraordinary Jamaican chef, she cooked with her soul and with tradition, meals many called “a taste of Heaven.” A trailblazer who opened the first Caribbean restaurant in Winnipeg, where the sweet aroma of her food brought comfort, laughter, and people together.
To many she was a pillar of the community but to her children Vernalie was our mother, she was the strength when we needed it, she was the soul of our family and forever will be our hero. Her kindness, and gentle spirit will never be forgotten. Our Queen mother, walked with grace, each step she took was beautiful and admired. Sadly missed, deeply loved, and forever remembered.
A funeral service is scheduled for February 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. and will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB.
