Quietly, in her 93rd year, Vi left us to join late husband Lloyd Rumsey, sister Eileen (Marie) MacDonald and brother Ray Mulvenny.
Mourning and ever missing her are son Bradford Rumsey of Winnipeg; daughter Linda (Brian) Yurkiw of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons Jeffrey and Bradford of San Francisco Bay, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Vi was born in Tilston, Manitoba to Bob and Edith Mulvenny and spent her early years there before moving on with her family to follow Bob’s career with the railroad. While living in Treherne, she met and married Lloyd. They settled in Winnipeg and had two children and worked at building up Lloyd’s Tile Service, a business they operated for many years. After she became an empty nester, she ardently pursued a lifelong dream of obtaining a university degree and graduated at age 50 with a BA from the University of Winnipeg. Vi was an enthusiastic member of Harrow United Church for decades and, being a passionate reader, took charge of the church library in her later years. After she and Lloyd moved to an apartment on University Crescent, she enjoyed many a luncheon with the Summerland ladies group. Her journey was long and her rest well deserved.
Due to restraints, there will be no service at this time. A post-Covid memorial tea is planned for later.
Please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice in Vi’s name.
