Wayne was born in Gladstone, Manitoba on August 12, 1943. At 18 he came to Winnipeg and made his home here but always enjoyed going back to visit his home town. He met his future wife Colleen in 1967 and they were married on October 2, 1970. They raised three great kids and enjoyed life to the fullest. His four grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he enjoyed getting together with the family.
Wayne retired from Perimeter Lumber where he was a Foreman. Wayne and Colleen enjoyed travelling to many places in Canada, USA and the Caribbean. His favorite places were Toronto, to visit Kelly, Carmen and the girls and also Las Vegas. He looked forward to going to the Shooting Star Casino, South Beach Casino and he also loved to golf. He was always there to lend a helping hand and to build anything from a fence to a garage.
A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 20 at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue, Winnipeg at 1:30pm with Reverend Janet Walker officiating. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in Gladstone Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Palliative Home Care Team for all their love and support and also to Riverview Palliative care for his last few days in their care.
If desired donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9.
Because of you our own small world
Will never be the same,
And all our hearts are filled with love
When people speak your name.
But though your face may not be seen
Among us here today,
Your heart is felt in all the hearts
You changed along the way.
