With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Amma, Sister, Aunt and Friend - Wendy Hildahl - on October 24, 2026 at The Arbours Linden Pointe at the age of 75.
Wendy was born on July 20, 1951 to Len and Nora Hanneson and grew up in Langruth, Manitoba. She attended the University of Manitoba, where she graduated with an education degree. Wendy met the love of her life, Craig, while at university and they married in Langruth, Manitoba on July 19, 1975. Wendy started her teaching career at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate and spent the majority of her career at Laidlaw School.
Wendy loved spending time with her family, and consistently demonstrated that family was of utmost importance to her. She loved bringing family together for Sunday dinners, and those gatherings are dearly missed. There are many fond memories from childhood family vacations including several trips to Disney World, Vancouver, California, South Dakota, Minneapolis and Iceland, as well as summers spent at Grand Beach and Arnes. Wendy instilled the value of hard work and determination in her children and was incredibly proud of their success and accomplishments.
Wendy is survived by her children Kristin (Michael), Stefan (Aisling) and Erik (Alexis); grandchildren Gavin and Colin (Kristin), Kieran, Shea and Conor (Stefan), and Elin and Hunter (Erik); sisters Johanna (Ken) and Patricia (her twin); brothers-in-law Keith (Ellen) and Wayne (Rita), sister-in-law Judy; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends. Wendy was predeceased by her husband Craig and her parents Len and Nora. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. The family is very grateful for the compassionate care by the staff at The Arbours Memory Care unit at Brightwater Linden Pointe.
A small family gathering to celebrate Wendy's life will be held on November 19th at 2:00pm at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5Y4.
