Wilda Mary Alice Coxe

2 March, 1926 – 23 August, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

In Loving Memory

After a remarkable 98 years, Wilda Mary Alice Coxe passed away in her sleep on August 23, 2024. Wilda was born in Ochre River, Manitoba on March 2, 1926, and was one of seven children born to Gladys Enid Thorkelson ( nee Foster) and John Archibald McDonald. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Coxe and Johnny Carrol, her brothers Wilfred, Douglas, George and Carlyle McDonald and sister Doreen Bailey (nee McDonald). She leaves to mourn her beloved brother Bryan, nephews Bradley, Grant and Todd, as well as nieces, Shirley Anne, Debra, Tracey, Pamela, Arleen, Wendy and Lianna, and many great nieces and nephews, as well as her many meaningful, lifelong friendships.

Wilda celebrated life. She was a world traveller who made friends everywhere she went. Wilda lit up a room, she was classy. She loved a great story, dancing, music, reading, playing cards, and her beloved cottages at Winnipeg Beach. She made many memories for our family every year, including summer vacations, with Wilda hosting the fun at the cottage, as well as making magical Christmas’ in a way that she only could do. She always had a story, and a natural way to connect with people that made them feel important and special.

We will miss her beyond measure, and we have been incredibly blessed to have such a remarkable lady in our lives. We carry with us her beauty and her grace.

Thank you to the wonderful staff and caretakers at the Charleswood Care Centre. Wilda was very comfortable there and developed many close, meaningful friendships during her stay. In keeping with her wishes, in lieu of a service, we ask that everyone reminisce, and remember something special about her and maybe play her favourite song “At Last” by Etta James.
