Doris was born on May 5, 1931 in Shelbyville, IN to Harmon and Florence Ponsler. She spent most of her childhood in Westport, IN. When she was in 7th grade, at age 12, she and her family moved to Columbus, IN. During her junior high and high school years, Doris was able to take Home Economics where she learned the basics of sewing which would be useful, and a blessing to others, for the rest of her life. She also took classes in typing and shorthand which were used in her employment all her working days.
Doris worked as an Administrative Secretary, Bookkeeper, and Office Manager for several companies throughout her working years. Her longest position (20 years) was at Central Veneer in Indianapolis, IN which was owned by a godly man and his family. During her 47 years of employment, she was able to prove the Lord to be faithful in providing for her every need.
Throughout the rest of her life, she continually experienced the goodness and mercy of God. She was a sweet, godly mother and grandmother who was loved by all. Her greatest desire was to glorify the Lord in all of her endeavors. Her Bible was her daily companion, and she often sought to tell others of a scriptural truth that she had gleaned that day.
She will be greatly missed, but we sorrow not as those who have no hope, but rejoice that she is forever with the Lord who saved and redeemed her soul.
She is preceded in death by her son, Gregory H. Munger. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Dane) Smith; seven grandchildren: Paul (Sheila) Munger, Amy (David) Becker, Eric (Jessica) Munger, Lydia (Derrick) Bowman, Nathan (Joy) Smith, Ryan (Katy) Smith, Jordan (Victoria) Smith; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
