
Harold Ray Gardner, 83 of Winston-Salem slipped away peacefully at Forsyth Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Harold was born in Forsyth County to Nell Weaver Gardner and her late husband, Earl Victor Gardner. Later Nell married L.B. Ballard of Kernersville. Harold worked at Western Electric (later to become AT&T & Lucent Technologies) for many years. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, gunsmithing, antique gun repair, and collecting arrowheads and watching TV. Harold was proud to be a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville for over 50 years. Harold proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Harold was preceded in death by both parents; Nell Ballard and Earl Gardner; his stepfather L.B. Ballard; One sister Hallie Gardner Dean; his Aunt Mary Gardner Hutchens. His maternal grandfather, James Benjamin Weaver; and maternal grandmother, Eva I. Davis Weaver; His wife, Floy Lee Johnson Darnell Gardner and daughter, Dawnna Myers Davila. Mr. Gardner is survived by his son, Nathan B. Gardner, four grandsons, Jason Gardner and family; Adam Gardner and family; Cody "Nick" Davila and family and Brian Davila and family; One granddaughter, Stephanie Meyers Kearney Morgan and family, One sister, Mrs. Faye Gardner Peddycord and family. Nieces and Nephews: James K. Dean and family; Steve Peddycord and family; Scott Peddycord and family; Ms. Brooke Kearney, Mr. Chad Kearney, Ms. Angela Ramirez and Ms. Destiny Ramirez The Gardner Family wishes to extend a very special thanks to Ms. Phyllis Townsend, his caregiver, friend and chauffeur for the last three years, as well as all Harold's personal doctors for their kind and excellent care. The family will receive friends Thursday April 5, 2012, at Frank Vogler & Sons, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral services will Be held at 1:00pm, Friday April 6, 2012 at First Baptist Church Of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Rd., Winston Salem, NC.
