

Mrs. Watkins was born on January 22, 1938 in Winston Salem to the late Marvin and Noramae Vaught. She attended Old Town School and graduated from North West High School. After school, Mrs. Watkins went on to work at Western Electric where she met her husband, Augustus Watkins, Jr. She eventually transitioned to Hanes Hosiery where she retired as the lead receptionist. Mrs. Watkins main career and passion, however, was being a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, adoring mother, caring grandmother, and loyal sister.
Mrs. Watkins leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Augustus; sons, Derek Watkins and Brian (Judy) Watkins; grandchildren, Matthew Watkins, Andy (Brittany) Watkins, and Ben (Brittany) Watkins; sister, Judy (Randy) Thrift; brother-in-law, Gordon (Kay) Watkins; special nieces, Tasha King and Bethany Brackin; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and dog, Teddy.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 4pm at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the ASPCA or the charity of your choice.
