Louise Johnson died peacefully on February 11, 2025 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born December 18, 1928, and was the cherished only child of Marshall and Pearl Bishop Church. She was raised in Winston and was proud to call this city her home for 96 years, even while living 28 years in Pilot Mountain.
Louise lived a full life with an independent spirit which she attributed to her status as an only child. Her outgoing nature and sense of humor remained until the end. She enjoyed various creative pursuits such as sewing, embroidery, painting, crocheting and making miniature Moravian Stars as long as she was able. She valued and maintained many friendships; the five women from her younger years who remained loyal friends for life; various relationships through her church and Sunday School; the Wednesday breakfast group that she looked forward to each week; and the numerous friends from her years in Pilot Mountain.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie L. Johnson, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage; a son, Greg Johnson; and sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and E.C. Morris. Survived by daughters, Vicki Johnson, Beverly Martin and Marcia Grashoff (Bob), all of Winston-Salem, as well as five grandchildren; John Martin, Lynne Martin, Kelsey Grashoff, Taylor Thornton (Michael), Will Johnson; and one great-grandchild. She was Aunt Louise to Joe Morris (Paula) and Ovelia Loflin (Les) as well as four great-nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, 3401 Konnoak Drive, Winston-Salem, NC. Visitation will be preceding the service at 10:00am in the church Fellowship Hall.
