William Dale King

19 July, 1937 – 18 February, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park

William Dale “Ko” King passed away on February 18, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 87.

Bill was born in Kanawha County, West Virginia on July 19, 1937 to the late William Russell and Ruby Mitchell King. He retired as a production controller after 25 years with AMP (Tyco).

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Bill was stationed in Japan for 2 of his 4 years. He remained extremely patriotic and was proud of his service and his country.

Bill was an active member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. He served on the Board of Elders, was an usher, and a core leader of Community Bible Study. He served the community not only in church, but also as a Mason and a member of the Elks Lodge.

In his youth, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. As he got older, those hobbies evolved to playing Bridge and bowling. Bill’s favorite pastime however was being at Holden Beach with his wife Betty, walking on the beach and collecting shells.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his adoring wife of 60 years, Betty Bonham King, and his brother, James Russell King. He leaves behind his daughter, Mindy (Dan) Kelley; grandson, Christopher Ziglar; great grandchildren, Will and Blayklie Ziglar; sister, Sandee (Ross) Gilmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A very special Thank You to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston Salem for their compassionate care during the past few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill’s honor to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Road Winston Salem, NC 27104.
