He was born on August 24, 1931 in Winston Salem to the late Audrey McDaniel. Bill proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as part of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squad. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church where he began attending with his grandmother as a young boy. Bill worked as an insurance agent for Myers Insurance then Ferrell Insurance. He had many hobbies including: listening to music, gardening, woodworking, camping, and fishing; but his favorite thing to do was to spend time at home with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Katie Pruitt McDaniel; daughters, Lisa (Greg) McElveen and Donna (Thomas) Nolfa; grandchildren, Carie (Benjamin) Kempton, Scott (Ellen) McElveen, Nathan McElveen, Eric Nolfa, and Luke Nolfa; sister, Jean Clifton; close cousin, Sylvia Gritton; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26th at 2pm at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 3543 Robinhood Road, with Dr. Mark Key officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service at the church. Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
