Ellen Rae Halcomb, 74, left this earth to be with the Lord on April 3rd, 2018, and will be greatly missed by both friends and family. In life, she made sure that those she loved were always taken care of, nourishing and emboldening the people around her. She truly embodied the stereotype of the Southern Grandmother who refused to let anyone leave the table without second and third helpings.
Born and raised in Ft Payne, Alabama, she spent the last 49 years of her life in Winter Garden, FL where she brought up her family with former husband William McVay. Together they raised four children including one son, Terry McVay (deceased), and three daughters: Kathy Creel (deceased), Deloris Jones, and Vickie Cheney. Eventually, William and Ellen decided to go their separate ways pursuing separate lives. Later in life, Ellen found a new person to share her life with, and married Robert Halcomb. She leaves behind a multitude of family members including her two surviving daughters (Deloris and Vickie), eleven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
