

Dr. Kenneth E. Moon of Clermont, FL passed away on September 28, 2014. He was born to the late Walter and Anna Moon on April 1st in Greensboro, NC. He grew up in Lumberton, NC and moved to Florida to go to college. He attended Trinity Bible College in Clearwater, FL and later attended seminary in St. Paul, MN. While attending Trinity, Kenneth met his wife Dorothy Eakin. Together they served in ministry for many years and raised four daughters. Kenneth was the senior pastor at Northside Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, FL. During his 20 years there, he helped establish Northside Christian School. He also served as pastor at First Baptist Church of San Jose, CA, Crossroads Baptist Church of Largo, FL, Perry Hall Baptist Church of Baltimore, MD, and First Baptist Church of Orlando, FL. Kenneth had a heart for missions and worked for Greater Europe Mission. In addition to his ministry, Kenneth also enjoyed UNC Basketball, tennis, traveling, and playing his saxophone. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; daughters Melody Thomas (Larry) of Bradenton, FL, Melinda Bertz (Douglas) of Winter Garden, FL, Melissa Moon of Memphis, TN, and Melanie Moon of St. Louis, MO; sister Barbara Williams (Clement) of Eagle Springs, NC; grandchildren Brooke Orr, Brittany Wilder, and Christopher and Samantha Bertz; and great-grandchildren Rilynn and Ansley Wilder. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 5pm at the First Baptist Church of Orlando, 3000 S. John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32805.
