May Elizabeth (Mastin) Wright was born Tuesday, August 11, 1931 in Pike, Wyoming County, New York. On Tuesday, December 31, 2024 she passed from this life into eternal life at age 93 years, 4 months, and 20 days in Orlando, Orange County, Florida where she lived for 47 years. She was predeceased by her husband Wesley Wright in 1985; her daughter Carol Ann in 2007, her daughter Barbara Jean in 2012, and her son Larry David in 2018 as well as great-grandson Edward Anthony Huffman in 2012. She is survived by her son Richard in Florida, daughter Janet (Matt) in PA, daughter Chris (Wayne) in Florida, and son Robert (Mary) in Florida. Also surviving mom are her 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister Gerry (New York), and many nieces and nephews.
Growing up in the Livonia NY area she attended school in a one room schoolhouse and then attended Livonia High School. At Livonia High she was very involved and on the Student Council. She had many friends growing up and one boyfriend endearingly nicknamed her Peanut for her tiny stature. She also loved to go dancing and socialize with her many friends including those who were members of a local band. She would sell tickets at the door for the band as well as for dances around the Hemlock area. At a roller skating arena on the west side of Conesus Lake she would sell tickets at the door. As a teenager she was employed by the Wadsworth family in Geneseo, traveling with them to their summer home in Cape Cod as part of her summer employment. She had wonderful memories from that time.
She met her husband through her friend Jean, who also was his daughter. Together she and dad had 7 children. Once they were in school she went to work for Bausch and Lomb in Chili, NY. In 1977 along with dad and the 2 youngest children moved to Orlando, Florida. After his death in 1985 she worked for and then retired from Walt Disney World, a place she loved working.
Mom’s love for her family was unwavering. Her admirable qualities were her resiliency, hard working ethic, kind heartedness sprinkled with toughness, and being generous of her time and resources. She loved to laugh and thoroughly enjoyed Rich and Matt’s antics. She believed strongly in honesty, and in helping those in need. One endearing quality is mom always tried to maintain a positive attitude. She treated others with respect regardless of their station in life. Although petrified of being in the water she loved going to the beach and walking along the shoreline. She enjoyed being knowledgeable of the world as well as history by reading everything from newspapers to biographies and more. Late in life she came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
