Raymond Gerald Chase, Sr., 79, of Champions Gate, Florida passed away peacefully on July 17, 2020. He was born on September 8, 1940 in Jeanerette, Louisiana to the late Leonard & Irene (Guillotte) Chase Sr. Raymond was one of four siblings: Leonard Chase Jr, Wayne Chase and Jeanne (Chase) Gaudet.
Raymond enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 16, 1958 and served his country for 30 years. During his enlisted years he lived in Bremerhaven Germany, Kaneohe HI, Monterey CA, Norfolk VA and Gambrills MD. Raymond was a Vietnam Veteran having served in Vietnam on multiple occasions. He received many commendations during his military career with the highest honor being the On-The-Roof-Gang Cryptologist of the Year Award in 1985.
MGySgt Raymond Chase retired from the Marine Corps on June 1,1988.
During the years following his retirement from the Marine Corps, Raymond was active in the Marine Corps Cryptologic Association (MCCA).
Following his military retirement, Raymond worked for Lockheed Martin Security Department in Hanover, Maryland. He retired from Lockheed Martin after ten years, on September 8, 2000.
After two retirements, Raymond worked at Walt Disney World for ten years retiring on June 7, 2014.
Raymond Chase married Rita Mae Howlett on April 22, 1967 and had two sons, Ray Chase Jr and Randy Chase. Raymond and Rita were married at the time of his passing.
Raymond enjoyed John Wayne movies, building puzzles, reading books and watching the Washington Redskins. He collected bald eagles and Marine Corps memorabilia and was active in the Knights of Columbus throughout his life. Raymond enjoyed taking his grandkids to Disney and attending their sporting events. He was a man of faith, faithfulness & family. Raymond was a beloved Husband, Dad and Paw Paw.
Raymond Gerald Chase Sr. is survived by his wife, Rita (Howlett) Chase; sons, Ray Chase Jr. and his wife Karen, Randy Chase and his wife Jill; grandchildren, Emily and Logan Chase, Brooke and Grant Chase; siblings, Wayne Chase and Jeanne (Chase) Gaudet.
On Friday, July 24, 2020 at 2:00pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Raymond Chase, Sr. will be presented with Catholic Blessings and Marine Corps Honors.
