Born August 31st, 1969, to Delmar and Diane Kittendorf; Steve grew up in Winter Park and St. Cloud, Florida later moving to Marietta, Georgia. A long-time proponent of the arts, he took immense pride in his time in high school performing with the Lassiter marching band and the school’s theater troupe, before graduating from Lassiter High School in 1987. He attended college at Florida State University, where he played baritone saxophone in the Marching Chiefs and met Marlene, his wife to be of 35 years.
Steve started his Disney career in 1988 as a Jungle Cruise skipper before transferring to the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park, where he was on the opening crew for The Great Movie Ride. He would go on to be on the opening teams for many other WDW attractions and theme parks across the globe through his long career with the Walt Disney Company.
In his personal life, Steve was a long-time Cub Scout Master in his adopted hometown of Winter Garden, Florida, feeling, as he often did, an obligation to give back to an organization that had influenced him so profoundly in his youth. Leading a new generation on deeply fulfilling expeditions to Hawaii, Yosemite, and New Mexico.
He also kept in constant touch with his many lifelong friends from his time in the Marching Chiefs, serving on its Alumni Board and frequently organizing and attending both official and unsanctioned alumni band events.
He was an incorrigible nerd and trivia buff as well as an avid cook, seldom missing an opportunity to feed a crowd and show off his talents.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Marlene, his four children; Carter, Markus, Miranda, and Corinne; as well as his sister Linda.
