Sylvia Dawn Hall lived an inspiring life. Hers is a life that spanned more than a century and multiple generations in her family, for which she served as a guiding light.
Born in Bristol, Rhode Island on August 23, 1917 to Pasquale and Frances Pagnano, Sylvia was one of five siblings, Helen, Genevieve, Lucy and Patricia. After Rhode Island, she and her husband Maury moved to Minnesota for a short time, before they both settled in Hollywood, Florida in 1958. In Hollywood, Sylvia worked at the Polka Dot Gift Shop. Sylvia was very involved with her local church, Little Flower in Hollywood and she and Maury enjoyed spending time with their son Richard, his wife Ellouise and granddaughter Michelle, with whom she had a close and special bond. Maury became ill, Sylvia became his full-time caregiver, until his passing in 1988.
Sylvia lived in Hollywood for 59 years, before relocating to Longwood, FL, in 2017, to live with her sister, Patricia.
That same year, Sylvia celebrated her milestone 100th birthday with a party at her favorite restaurant, CJ’s Italian Kitchen, surrounded by her family.
Throughout her 102 years, Sylvia had a joy of life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed time with family, playing Rummikub, relaxing with a beer, talking politics and traveling back to Rhode Island each Summer, to visit her older sister, Jay. She continued to do all of this, even in the past few years and months, before she passed away.
Sylvia is survived by her granddaughter Michelle, grandson-in-law, Michael, sisters Genevieve and Patricia, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her generosity and sense of humor will continue to be remembered by all who knew her.
