Alice was born in Bartow, Florida on Jan. 27, 1946. the daughter of Benjamin and Gladys Webster. She attended Bartow High School and graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology.

Alice was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Margaret Phillips.
Alice balanced raising her daughter with a professional career at the US Department of Labor in Orlando, FL. As she helped pave the way for women in her role as Executive Director, she never felt like she was doing “work” while she was on the job. She believed wholeheartedly in fighting for women’s equality and was happy to devote her life to protecting all people from discrimination.
Alice was a single mother who managed to excel not only in her profession but give her daughter so much love and support. Alice cherished her time with her grandchildren Carson and Easton while instilling in them her passion for reading, education and technology. Likewise, she loved family gatherings at the home of her niece, Cindy, in Tallahassee, spending time there with the whole family for Christmas celebrations.
Alice suffered two battles against breast cancer, which she bravely defeated. She could be described as "independent” and “tough as nails,” and also had an infectious smile and a witty sense of humor. Alice was a beautiful woman who fought vigorously for others.
She was an active Member of the Quota Club, a gardener, a voracious reader, a sudoku genius, a great friend, and immensely proud of her family. She had a passion for space exploration and loved anything involving space, from watching Star Trek to witnessing every US launch into the stars with awe.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at her beloved lake house in Auburndale.
