
The Rev. Dr. Claude Alan Harvey celebrated a heavenly reunion with his beloved mother and father on May 4, 2026. Alan was born to Mary Sue and Claude Douglas Harvey on August 8, 1954 in Union, South Carolina. His childhood was spent in Union, and then in his teenage years, the family moved to Thomasville, North Carolina. Alan graduated from Thomasville Senior High School, and earned his undergraduate degree in the field of Food Service Management from the University of North Carolina- Greensboro. After a brief career in food service, Alan answered the call to ministry. In 1986, he graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia with his Master of Divinity degree, and was ordained as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Alan served as the pastor of the Pearisburg Presbyterian Church, Pearisburg, Virginia for twelve years. In 1998, Alan was called as associate pastor by the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, Florida, where he faithfully and lovingly served His Lord and God’s people for 22 years. During his years in Winter Haven, Alan completed a joint course of study with Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and the University of Aberdeen, being awarded his Doctor of Ministry degree. Alan’s final earthly residence was at Florida Presbyterian Homes (Westminster Communities) in Lakeland, Florida.
The funeral service for the Rev. Dr. C. Alan Harvey will be held in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Friends are encouraged to remain after the worship service for a reception feast in McLeod Hall, where we will share fabulous food and stories of a dear friend in Christ.
