Helen Roby Gross

Helen was born in Winter Haven on February 16, 1925 to the late Donald and Nell Roby. She was raised in Winter Haven, attending Winter Haven High School and Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University. She was a most loving, supportive, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Helen was active in civic and educational affairs throughout her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven; it's Presbyterian Women; and PEO Chapter U. She was a founding member and the first president of Planters Garden Club, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edwin Gross, and son, Donald George Childs. Helen is survived by her loving family : daughter, Deborah Childs Stuart, of Lakeland; grandson, Rex Roby Childs, and granddaughter, Madelyn June Childs, both of Naples, Florida.
