

Joseph Louis Mancini (WPD, Ret.), age 82, passed away at his home in Winterhaven, Florida on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Joseph (Joe) was born in Rhode Island to the late Pasquale and Celia (Vellucci) Mancini. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Lorraine T. Mancini of Winterhaven Florida, as well as his parents and brother, Robert C. Mancini of Warwick Rhode Island.
Joe is survived by his son Scott Mancini (WPD, Ret.) and his wife Lindsey, daughter Pamela Mancini, son Keith Mancini and his wife Kristen, stepson Wayne Shepard, stepdaughter Linda Robideau, and his grandchildren, Brooke, Morgan, Colton, Alysse and Ethan.
Joe was a decorated member of the Warwick Rhode Island Police Department, retiring after 21 years of service. He served in many capacities, to include as a uniformed member of the Traffic Division's Motorcycle Patrol Unit, as well as an Auto Squad Detective. Joe was also a United States Air Force Veteran.
After retiring from Law Enforcement, he pursued a career in real estate and general contracting with his long time business partner and very dear friend Richard Palazzo of Florida.
Joe was an avid lover of aviation. He could often be found at the local airport hangar, where he spent countless hours with friends in the aviation industry. He loved building and collecting model airplanes, a hobby that brought him much joy over the years, and one he enthusiastically shared with anyone who showed an interest, particularly his young grandson, who treasured the time and knowledge his grandpa shared with him.
