

He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Karl P. and Jean Pacitti Heim on June 11, 1936.
In 1957, at the young age of 21, Karl met and married Virginia ‘Ginny’ Gavis to whom he spent 53 years with, until her death in 2010.
As a young father, Karl attained both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry from LaSalle University. Karl’s professional career started at Pennwalt in Southwest Philadelphia as a chemist, while also teaching chemistry at night at LaSalle. Karl retired in 1999 after 25 years as manager of Analytical Services for Johnson Matthey in Deptford, NJ.
Karl was an avid boatsman. In the 1960’s and early 70’s you could find him and Ginny on the Schuylkill River waterskiing and performing stunts. Karl and Ginny took their analytical talents to Worton Creek on the Chesapeake Bay where they spent the next 30+ years sailing. Eventually, they retired to Florida.
Karl leaves behind his wife and dear friend Barbara, his son Michael (Dawn), grandsons Dylan and Jake Heim.
Karl was proceeded in death by his wife Virginia Gavis Heim, and 2nd wife Carolyn A. Heim.
Services will be held at Vista Memorial Gardens 14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014 on Thursday July 28th at 10:30 am.
