Laverne Parker Gibson (Mamaw), went to dig in the Gardens of Heaven on Friday, March 23, 2012. Her final days on Earth were spent surrounded by family. Ms. Gibson was born in Laurel, MS on Oct. 21, 1915, raised children in Longview, TX and spent her final years in Winter Haven, FL.
She was of strong Baptist faith and was known to tell descriptive stories & speak her mind, always bringing laughs to any conversation.
Ms. Gibson is survived by her children, Patsy Houser, Ann Rydell and Martha Nelson; her grandchildren, Cheryl Paluska, David Deutch, Kendall Ann Rydell, Danny Houser, Donny Houser, Mark Gibson, Jennifer Gibson and Cene' Houser. She was also blessed with several great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Gibson.
A celebration of her life will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 28th at 10am, followed by a graveside service. Her pallbearers will include: Danny Houser, Donny Houser, Cene' Houser, Tyler Houser, Michael Ray, and Kristen Statler.
