Maria Mercedes Rodriguez

LAKELAND - Maria Mercedes Rodriguez, 77, was born Nov. 22, 1933 in Isabela, PR, and passed away peacefully with family at her side Dec. 31, 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospice due to heart failure.

Survivors include Husband Santos; Brothers & sisters, Amado Chico, Pat Lugo; Children: Delma Gipson, Santos Rodriguez JR., Dr. Martha Santiago, Sandra Davila, Dr. Mitch Rodriguez and Annette Miller; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by Mother, Mercedes Chico and Father, Ramon Chico; Brothers: Chemin Chico, Marcos Chico and Miguel Chico.

Maria moved from PR to NYC Bronx 1952, and back to PR 1972. She moved to Lakeland, Fl 1983. She was a member of Iglesia Misionera, Lakeland, FL. Maria was a devoted leader in her church, a loving mother and faithful wife and lived to enjoy all her grand and great grandchildren. As the Matriarch of the family she leaves a cavernous void in our lives.

Visitation will be Monday 5-6pm with Funeral service at 6pm @ New Hope Church, 651 Carl Floyd Rd., Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers make donations to Iglesia Misionera, Lakeland.
