After to moving to Florida, Gayton spent his career working in the mine industry in Fort Meade until his retirement.
He is survived by his sons Timothy Johnson (Sarah) and Roy Johnson; sisters Laurine Fletcher, Merie Fletcher, Vicki Holt (Kermit), and Linda Bishop, as well as his grandchildren.
A graveside service for Roy will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Auburndale Memorial Park, 1889 W Derby Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823.
