She was born on March 29, 1938, the only daughter of Clyde Franklin and Rachel Mitchell Sanders, in Greenfield, TN. At the age of 10, God gave her a vision of the map of Africa and called her to be a missionary. The family later moved to Lansing, Michigan where she graduated from high school. Her next step in following God’s call on her life was to attend Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida. At Southeastern, she met her husband, James Farrer, of almost 54 years. Together, they served as missionaries in Africa for 15 years. Their state-side service encompassed an additional 35 years, and included pastoring in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida, with the last 27 years of ministry at New Life Assembly of God Church in Wahneta, Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Leo Farrer; two daughters, Rhonda Farrer (Partner: Mel Wallace); Hannah Farrer Moore (Spouse: Russell Moore); one son, Mark Farrer (Spouse: Amber Farrer); and a large and loving family including grandchildren: Chris, Faith, Victoria, Ethan, Christopher, Noah, Zoe, C.J., Leanna, and Jadyn; and the great-grandchildren: Emma, Johnathan, and Ezra.
