Auburndale - Mrs. Susie Mae Wiley, age 93, of Auburndale, FL passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 due to natural causes. She was born April 20, 1918 in Geneva County, Alabama the daughter of Tice and Mandy (Shirah) Ward. Mrs. Wiley was the mother of 8 children. She was a farmer on a small Jackson county, Florida farm for many years. Then Mrs Wiley with her family traveled between central Florida and Michigan from 1951 to 1965 working on farms. Mrs. Wiley worked as a sectionizer for Bordo Citrus for over 30 years. After retirement she owned and operated Susie's Collectibles at Market World in Auburndale. She loved gardening and flowers, growing most of her own vegetables. Mrs. Wiley continued to garden at her home in Auburndale until her death.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wiley was preceded in death by her husband Lester Wiley in 1994 and 4 of her children (Linda, Lula Mae, Edward, Cathy) and 3 grandchildren (Dickie, Marc, Talmage,Jr.). She is survived by her daughters Betty Addison of Gainesville, FL, and Sue Wiley (Tom Ballentine) of Tallahassee, and sons Lester Clifton Wiley (Martha) of Marietta, GA, and Talmage Wiley (Nancy) of Temple, GA, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 2-4 pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 West Central Avenue, Winter Haven, FL. Funeral services are Monday at 11:00 am at the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow in Auburndale Memorial Park.
