Wayne Edward Pettit

Wayne Edward Pettit, 74, of Winter Haven, FL, passed away on January 7, 2014 due to respiratory failure. He was born in Worcester, MA and moved to this area 57 years ago. Wayne obtained his GC license at 21. He was a member of the Winter Haven Jaycees, Optimist Club, Lake Region Yacht and Country Club, coached little league baseball and football, and was a five gallon blood donor. He worked as an engineer with Tampa Electric and upon his retirement he owned and operated the Sun Coast Garden Center.

Wayne is survived by Sharon S. Pettit, a daughter, Lori P. Fischer, son, Michael W. Pettit (Lisa), grandchildren, Adriane F. Ovcharenko (Stas), Caitlin F. Vaczi (CJ), Buddy Pettit, and Anne Marie Pettit, great grandchildren, Emaly, RJ, and McKenna Vaczi, and loving companion, Barbara J. Brenner.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11th, at 10:30 am at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society or the SPCA. www.ott-laughlin.com
