Our loving husband, father, and Papa, David Thomas Benefield passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021 at the age of 73 after a long battle with cancer and other illnesses. Born to his loving parents the late Ira and Helen Benefield (Thomas) in Orlando, FL. After graduating from Edgewater High School, he attended Shorter College and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and then needed to stay busy, so he went to work for Publix. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, including his grandchildren, and going to church. David did not know a stranger and would help anyone he could. David loved anything to do with Charles Schulz’s Peanuts, and Snoopy was his favorite.
David was predeceased in death by his parents (Ira and Helen). He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Kathy; three children, Joe (Becky), Amy Hutyra (Chad), and John (Kelly); seven grandchildren he loved dearly, Nolan, Hope, Jackson, Owen, Kayden, Oliver, and Parker. David is also survived by two brothers, Rodney (Cindy), and Jerry (Bettianne).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will take place at 11 a.m. on April 8, 2021. The service will be located at Glen Haven Memorial Park at 2300 Temple Dr., Winter Park, FL 32789.
