He knew that he was loved by his family and you could see how much he loved them.  Lynn, you have been a wonderful and caring daughter. While Ed lived a long life and eventful life, the loss of a loved one is always difficult for those who's lives were touched in some way by a person like Ed. Great Grandpa,
I couldn’t thank God enough for bringing someone as special as you into my life. I remember when McDanial and I came to your house multiple times and we ran around the backyard catching snakes and lizards. The best spot was behind your back shed. When we were all worn out we made our way into your house only to be greeted by the most upbeat and loving great grandparents. You brought us to your outside fridge to get a refreshing soda and sat with us on your outside swing. I will never forget this day that McDanial and I shared with you, having long discussions about our current activities, our futures, and whether or not we had girlfriends at the time. Grandpa, every time I got to share a moment with you, you have shown me an endless amount of love through your enthusiasm and expression. I have no doubt that you are in Heaven looking down at all of your loved ones with your remarkable smile and your beautiful wife by your side. I love you.

I remember the first time I ever met Grandpa Hakman. I was amazed at how much life he had lived and how contagious his smile was. My cheeks were so sore after meeting because I couldn’t stop smiling at him. Who couldn’t smile at such a sweet man? I can remember after meeting him telling Matthew that that man was a walking miracle. Just being able to meet someone who had literally “lived life to the fullest” was such a privilege. Thank you grandpa Hakman. I will never forget your beautiful smile. You made me smile. You will always be in my heart and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all in the loss of Uncle Ed.  He was so special to me and I always looked forward to our visits with him.  He made everyone feel special.  Whenever he and family came to visit, we would all gather around the table and laugh about crazy things.  His sense of humor was one of a kind.

His love for Jesus and his faith in God was deep.  He and Virginia would say their rosary together every night.  They made it a lifetime novena.

He is now in a place we all hope to be someday, around another big round table with Virginia, Lawrence & Mary, and all his brothers and sisters.  What a tail he must be telling them.

I feel quite honored to have known Mr. Hakman. He was truly a gentleman and enjoyed people and sharing experiences of life with others.  He will be really missed and no doubt his family has been blessed to have had him in their life.

It is at a time like this that I always seem to reflect on memories past. Children are so easily influenced by their surroundings and I am so grateful that I was raised with such family involvement. I remember walking to Edward's Beauty Salon on his lunch hour with a brown bag in hand for him. Praying with him at night on my sleep overs. All of our trips to Jetty Park to visit with Aunt Mary and Uncle Larney. Trips to St. Pete Beach. I remember going to Red Lobster EVERY Friday night and sitting there for hours! I'd end up falling asleep on the chairs. I remember all his favorite meals from vegetable soups to chilis that my mom would cook for him and we would spend the evening just laughing at his jokes or at him poking fun at grandma. Life gets busy. I was blessed with a family that believed that "it's not the breaths you take in life but the moments that take your breath away." I did just that with my grandfather at a time in my life that was most influential and most important: I spent moments with him that I will cherish forever until we make new ones again in Heaven.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is very difficult as you well know. Take comfort that Aunt Gin and Uncle Ed are back togather again. Please be togather as family and help each other through this. My thoughts and prayers will be with you always.

So sorry to hear Uncle Ed went home to be with the Lord. No matter when, it is always too soon for us, isn't it? lynne and rich sorry to hear of youd dads passing he was a great man have some great memories of all the years you lived in ttown will always cherish them was so glad for the time we spent with him and you lynne a couple years ago rich it was good to see a picture of you and your family will have our son fr jeff say a mass for your dad  will keep all you in our prayers

To my Grandfather Edward, I am so proud to have called you "My Grandpa". You filled my life will joy and laughter from the day I was born. I will never forget you playing "The Alley Cat Song" over and over on your organ until I would fall asleep. I also have fond memories of us grandkids kneeling around the bed saying our prayers together at bedtime and then you would sing to us "Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those peepers, where'd you get those eyes"  just before rubbing your whiskers on our faces. So many great memories I have of spending time with you and Grandma. I will especially always cherish the last five years we spent together. I learned so much more about you than most people will ever know. As much as I ache that you have gone; I am so joyful that you are now reunited with Grandma once again and that the two of you are dancing in each other's arms in heaven.
