Elizabeth Louise McKechnie born in Portlock, Canada on June 17th 1924 went peacefully to be with the Lord on August 21st 2021. Known to her family and friends as “Betty” in her early years she lived with her grandparents in a “Wizard of Oz” working farm setting with her younger sister Lois. After high school she moved to Detroit to reunite with her mother, Elizabeth, and her beloved stepdad, Rene Angell. It was also in Detroit where she graduated from Grace College School of Nursing. After graduation she moved to San Diego to be with family, start a new nursing career, and meet the future love of her life, U.S. Marine Paul E. Greenlee. They were married in San Diego on March 17th, 1948. Due to Paul's service in the Marine Corp they lived in many locations across this nation until finally settling down in Orlando, Florida in 1967. Betty continued her nursing career and was one of the first nurses hired at the then newly constructed Walt Disney World. After the death of her husband, Elizabeth continued to live in Orlando through the remainder of her life. She is preceded in death by her oldest daughter Treva Briggs, survived by sons Paul Jr., Kirby, Leslie, and daughter Kathleen. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for Visitation on Saturday, September 18th from 1:30 P.M - 2:30 P.M. A Graveside Memorial Celebration will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Glen Haven Memorial Park with Pastor Preston Free officiating.
