Born October 22, 1922, in Orlando, Florida to Hugh & Martha Cotton, and raised in Orlando, Florida, attended Hillcrest Elementary, Memorial Junior High School, passed away at the age 93, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. After attending Orlando High School, Jane then was accepted into Rollins College and attended Rollins from 1940 through 1943. There she met her husband, Lt. Col. Carl S. Morrison, Jr. on a blind date and they were married in Knowles Memorial Chapel, Rollins College, on January 9, 1943. While a student at Rollins College, she was part of the Chi Omega Sorority, and also a Phi Beta Kappa for being in Honor Society for high academia. When Jane’s husband returned from World War II as a decorated war hero in 1946, she assisted him in opening two drug stores and then sold them, and then began a retail sporting goods dealer with as many as eight locations in the State of Florida. Jane volunteered as a Pink Lady at Florida Hospital during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Jane had many hobbies, one of which was a passion: collecting. Some of the items she would collect were stamps from around the world, concentrating mostly in European and Russian. She was an active member of the Orlando Stamp Club for twenty five years, and served as Treasurer. Jane also enjoyed collecting antiques, including furniture, china and stemware, as well as post cards of “Old” Orlando, Silk Santa Claus’, and Hold to Light. One of the most passionate things she collected was her Harrison Fischer Collections’; she was one of the largest Harrison Fischer collectors in the world, holding two complete collections of Harrison Fischer original prints. Jane also loved playing bridge with her Chi Omega bridge group once a month, as they would rotate hosting at their homes, country clubs, or restaurants. They would travel together, their favorite place to go was various beaches and Savannah, GA. She enjoyed playing card games, board games and loved watching Jeopardy because she knew the answer to every question. She was as smart as a whip! In her later years she enjoyed attending St. John Lutheran Church, in Winter Park, Florida, where she and her late husband were members and had many friends whose friendships she still holds dear. Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, guiding all of us with her wealth of wisdom, strength, knowledge, and sense of humor. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathleen Jane Morrison born on October 17, 1947, and her son, Sherwood Cotton Morrison, born on March 8, 1953 and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Helen Morrison, born on December 13, 1957, and her three grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Joyner, born on September 18, 1969, Taylor Patrick Morrison, born December 19, 1984, and Travis Carlton Morrison born on March 31, 1991. Jane’s husband of 66 years, LT. Col. Carl S. Morrison, Jr. and her brother, Hugh M. Cotton, Jr. are both deceased. Out of all her accomplishments she would say her greatest achievements would have been in the lives of her family she created and adored. Her creative mind, kind heart, brilliant smile, a way of teaching her children and grandchildren proper manners, which they will cherish, and them listening to the simple story she told of long ago would make us sparkle. To her family she was known as Mom, Grandma, but more importantly love so unconditionally for having such unconditional love for her family. Her generous heart filled her home with love, family and she knows she was loved by the Lord. She was always so happy and always said “as long as she had her family, she was always happy, and would never wanted for anything else.”
