

Jill was the daughter of former Orange County Civil and Criminal Court Judge Sylvan McElroy, Jr. and granddaughter of Orlando pioneer physician, Dr. Sylvan McElroy, Sr. a founder of what is now ORMC hospital. Her great-grandfather was Orlando pharmacist, Dr. James Newton McElroy, Sr., who opened one of the first drugstores in downtown Orlando in 1881.
She graduated from Wm. R. Boone High School in 1960 and that year was presented at the Rosalind Club of Orlando's 1960 New Year's Eve Debutante Ball. In childhood, she was a member of the DAR's Children of the American Revolution.
Jill married Navy Lieutenant Thomas Joel Harmon in 1962, they had two sons. After their divorce, she married James William York in 1969, former Orlando Chief of Police, and had one daughter.
She loved to travel having visited Europe and was partial to Key West and Savannah. A great cook, she turned out a variety of delicious dishes for her family.
Jill is survived by sons Gregory Joel Harmon (Ellen), Atlanta; David Mark Harmon (Melissa), Orlando and daughter Ami York Trombino (Joseph), Orlando. Seven grandchildren, Graham Joel Harmon, Ethan Mark Harmon, Isaac David Harmon and Adelaide Rose Harmon, Sydney Alexis Lavender, Danielle Lee Maglione and Kyle William Burgess, sisters Molly McElroy, Orlando and Melanie McElroy Hanson, N. Carolina and brother John Carl McElroy, Winter Park, 17 nieces and nephews. Jill is predeceased by sister, Jo Ann McElroy Berry and Sylvan "Jock" McElroy, III.
