

Mario “Mac” Capozzi passed away peacefully in Winter Park, Florida at the age of 91 yrs. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marie, his daughters Laura (Roger), Angela (Steve) and Denise (Robert) and his brothers James, Sam and Anthony, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Raymond and Joseph. Mac was born on December 6, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the Army during WW2 as an Army medic in the CBI Theater. He married his high school sweetheart, Marie in 1946. He graduated with a B.A. from the University of South Florida. He worked for the U.S. Federal Government as a personnel classifier for 38 years. While employed, he was transferred from New York to Orlando, Florida to help launch the Orlando Naval Training Device Center. His children remember him as a kind and gentle father who encouraged them to pursue their goals in life. Mac was an accomplished musician who played the harmonica all his life starting with performances on the radio as a young boy. He was proficient on the mandolin, piano and guitar. He was a generous person who loved God and was passionate about his faith. He was an active and dedicated member of his church and often spent his free time volunteering. He volunteered by entertaining at churches and nursing homes, and was a Eucharistic minister. He also was a member of the Board of Directors for the Fairwinds Federal Credit Union for fifteen years. He spent four years as a volunteer at the Winter Park Hospital. A private funeral for family only will be scheduled at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Cornerstone Hospice for their compassionate care.
