

Shirley was born a blessing to Hiram and Margie Carter, December 12, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida and was named after her Aunt Shirley. Shirley grew up in Jacksonville and Doctors Inlet where she was surrounded by all of her family. Shirley graduated from Forest High School in 1974 where she excelled in track and field and was crowned Homecoming Queen her senior year. After graduating from high school, Shirley worked as a Clay County Sheriff’s Dispatcher later joining her brother and sister in Orlando, Florida. Shirley furthered her education at Valencia Community College and worked for many years as a paralegal. Shirley retired from the work force at an early age due to extreme physical disabilities. Shirley entered into a long, wonderful relationship with Charles that flourished into a loving marriage.
Shirley grew up in the Christian Faith and excepted Christ at an early age. Shirley was matured in her personal relationship with God and could often be found in quiet time seeking guidance through Bible reading and devotion. Shirley was passionate about gardening and shared an obsession of motor sports with her husband Charles. Shirley was a kind, loving and gentle soul who knew no enemies. Shirley truly loved her children and family and cherished being a wife and mother.
Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memory her wonderful husband Charles; two loving children Kimberly and Michael; brother Jimmie (Karen); five adoring grandchildren Kayla, Ethan, Michael, Jaidyn, Taylor; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Shirley will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 ALOMA AVE, WINTER PARK, FL 32792.
