

Thomas Winfred Frye, age 85, passed away peacefully March 10, 2016. Born in Mount Airy, NC, he was a son of Edgar and Elza Frye. Mr. Frye was raised on the tobacco farms of North Carolina, a son of share croppers. He worked very hard to achieve his goals in life. He served in the U.S. Navy achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class. He worked for 20 years with the Dept. of Defense (U.S. Navy) as an honored Logistics Engineer. He earned two Masters Degrees; a Masters of Science in Business from Rollins College and a Masters of Logistics Engineering from Florida International University. He was the Founding Fellow of the Society of Logistics Engineers. Upon retirement from the Dept. of Defense, Mr. Frye co-founded a very successful Logistics Engineering firm, Tekontrol, Inc. His firm performed Logistics services for both foreign governments and private companies. An avid fisherman and golfer, Mr. Frye was a published author, recalling his personal memoirs in his book, “Faulkner’s Creek”. Mr. Frye is preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Byrd Frye. He is survived by his sons Dana, Alan, and Kelly and his daughter Lisa McGrew. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and his brother Gayle Frye. Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service at the 1st Baptist Church of Winter Park, 1021 N. New York Ave., Friday, March 18, 2016 at 1pm. Graveside Services will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, at 2:45pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 1st Baptist Church of Winter Park in memory of Mr. Frye.
