On October 31, 1953 Agnes was born at Kipling, Saskatchewan to Frank and Marjorie Obrigewitsch. She was raised on the family farm near Corning with two brothers and two sisters.
Agnes married Frank Wozniak and during their time together lived in Thompson, MB; High River, AB and then settled permanently on the Obrigewitsch farm where Agnes grew up. They raised a daughter and son during their time together. Agnes was involved with all aspects of grain, cattle and hog farming, raising chickens and rabbits for food, loved her dogs, cats and horses, grew a huge garden and preserved, cooked and baked everything. A true thrifter, she saved to buy new household conveniences.
In the mid-eighties Agnes started working at the Grenfell Care Home. It was in the early nineties that Agnes and Frank separated, then later divorced. Agnes bought a small house in Grenfell and kept working at the care home.
In the mid-nineties Agnes met Les Evanochko and got married in the late nineties. During their time together they lived in Grenfell, then moved to Revelstoke, BC. Agnes was able to find a job and while in Revelstoke she often babysat and enjoyed looking after her granddaughter. After a few years in BC they decided to move back to SK.
They bought a house in Kelliher and Agnes got a job at Deer Park Villa in Ituna, SK. She really enjoyed her job there. She looked after the clients, taking them to baseball and hockey games, concerts at the casino or just excursions into town to shop or go out for meals or ice cream. She was always joking and having fun with them. She always cooked and baked fabulous meals for them.
In 2019, Agnes separated from Les and moved into a small house she bought in Ituna. She continued to work at the group home until mid-2020 when she caught covid and later suffered with long hauler covid symptoms. This slowed her down a bit, but she still enjoyed baking, texting or phoning her family and friends. Agnes always enjoyed having her cats and dogs. She would watch the Roughriders or hockey in the winter. She has always loved Hello Kitty and collected anything to do with that...even a toaster!
No matter where she lived, she had always had a close circle of friends. Agnes was known as a great cook and baker, often sharing pictures and recipes of her creations. She was known for her infectious laugh, wry sense of humor and no bs attitude.
Agnes will be deeply missed by her daughter Jennifer and Mike Kernahan; son Jess and Tammy and granddaughter Shana; her sisters Carol and Ben Lafonde and Susan Obrigewitsch; nieces, nephews and many friends she met over the years.
In following Agnes' wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.
If you wish to make a donation in her memory, you may send to Deer Park Villa, 518 5th Ave. NE, Ituna, SK or a local fire department or pet rescue of your choice.
