Allan was born on the farm north of Wolseley in 1919, oldest child of W.D (Dell) Perley and his wife Nan (Armitage)Perley. Allan grew up a hard worker, quitting school at a young age to help on the farm. In later years he cut wood for a living, and at the outbreak of war in 1939 entered the Canadian forces in defence of his country as a volunteer, where he served until the end of the war. Allan took advantage of the Veterans Land Act to re-purchase the family farm and set himself up there, marrying Elma Schwab in 1955. They lovingly adopted two children, Eldon and Janet to share their lives on the farm, where they lived until 1976, at which time the farm was sold and the move was made to Wolseley. Allan and Elma lived in Wolseley for 34 years, excluding a year in Peachland BC in the early 80's.
