In October of 1949, she married Joe Yamniuk, and they lived on the farm in the Hendon, SK area, where they raised their five children. In 1974 they sold the farm and moved to Saskatoon, SK. In 2001 Joe and Doreen moved to Candiac, SK. Joe and Doreen were happily married for 56 years. After Joe’s passing, Doreen lived in a variety of care homes, as well as 1 year with Dallas and Lisa Willness in White City. As Doreen's health began to fail, Bryce and Bernadine moved Doreen into their home in May of 2020. Due to even more care needed in August of 2021, they moved Doreen into Aspen Grove Care Home in Grenfell, SK where she received wonderful care. She was loved by Leon and Salud, the owners of Aspen Grove.
Doreen loved her children, was an excellent mother and worked very hard on the farm. Often she would milk multiple cows by hand while Joe was harvesting, and also had meals ready and the children cared for. As a Grandma, Doreen loved to cook and made delicious perogies, and cabbage rolls. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy. In her later years, she loved playing games, colouring, painting and listening to her great-grandchildren playing instruments and singing.
Doreen had a love for God. She loved listening to hymns and singing them. In her later years she spent more and more time thinking about God, and when she was no longer physically able, she always wanted someone to come help her listen to the gospel meetings. Doreen passed away suddenly at Aspen Grove Care Home the morning of January 7, 2022.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Nellie Manastyrski, her husband Joe Yamniuk, her siblings, Alec, Eli, Kate, Mary, Teena, Alvena and granddaughter Maria Yamniuk.
