Herbert Robert Haus

Herbert will be remembered by his four children: Robert, Peter, Gordon and Kathryn (Rob); his sister Marlene Wilson; brother Ken (Earleen) Haus; sisters-in-law: Marlene Haus, Marilyn Butler and Dixie Kistner (Gord) and brother-in-law John Irving. He will be deeply missed by his seventeen grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Herbert was predeceased by his wife Bernice Haus; sisters: Elma Baker, Elsie Neugebour and Irene Butler; sisters-in-law: Betty Dalziel, Jean Goebel, Linda Irving, Hilda Haus and Maisie Haus; brothers: Ernie Haus, Albert Haus, Harold Haus and Lorne Haus; brothers-in-law: Jack Dalziel, Louis Goebel, Jake Baker, Morris Butler, Harry Neugebour and Norman Wilson; son-in-law Richard Rydzik; daughters-in-law Shannon and Jackie Haus; grandson Katlin Chutskoff and great-grandson Zedekiah Bagwell.

Herb was born at Govan on October 25, 1932. He was the seventh of the 10 children born to John and Kathrine Haus. They lived at many places – Govan, Seman, Nokomis and North Regina. They moved to Regina Beach in 1946 where Herb finished school and ran a riding stable there for a few years.

In 1954 Herb met Bernice, daughter of John and Pat Irving. Herb and Bernice were married on November 10, 1956 at Stony Beach. They lived at the farm in a trailer till the spring of 1958. Then they moved to Edgeley on April 17, 1958 to a rented farm.

Their first son Robert John was born on September 2, 1958. Then along came Peter Allan on November 12, 1960 while they lived in Edgeley.

When rent ran out, they found the farm by Glenavon and moved on April 17, 1961. They had cattle and sheep, a good dog and a few good horses. Neighbours were awesome and continued their friendships when they all eventually moved into Glenavon for their retirement years.

On December 15, 1965 our third son Gordon James was born followed by Kathryn Patricia on January 19, 1967.

Herb worked hard and building his legacy was his goal. Always striving to show us hard work pays off and nothing comes free. He will be missed.

The funeral service will be held in St. Andrews United Church, Glenavon, Saskatchewan on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Lynette Callfas officiating. Interment will be held in the Stony Brook Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service in the Glenavon Community Hall.
