On November 21, 2020, Ione Christine (Measner) Todd, born June 20, 1923, formerly of Glenavon, Saskatchewan passed away in the Kipling Integrated Health Centre, at age of 97 years. A family funeral was held on November 28, 2020 in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley with Lynette Callfas officiating. Graveside interment will be held in the Glenavon Cemetery, Glenavon on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. After the interment, everyone is welcome to join the family for cake and coffee to celebrate Ione’s life at Glenn’s farm.
Ione was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Peter Todd who passed away on December 11, 1981. She is survived by her five children: Beryl (Robert) Fournier, Alan Todd, Heather (Larry) Dew, Glenn (Lori) Todd and Richard (Leslie) Todd; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and other family members: Jean and Derek (Kim) Armstrong as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ione grew up in Holdfast with her parents, Herman and Martha (Myrah) Measner; brothers Lloyd and Nealand and sisters Verna and Hazel. Life was fun with several cousins living close by. She loved cards, sports (especially ball) and dances. Ione received her Teachers Certificate in 1942 and taught in Imperial, Fillmore and Kegworth.
Ione met Ron and they were married on July 3, 1948. Dad's cousin Grant lived with them. Life was busy raising 5 kids on the farm, sports, cattle and horses. Mom did handiwork, sewed dresses, costumes and was a great mechanic!! She was an amazing cook. She moved off the farm in 1988 where she continued with community activities, travelling and watching hockey. She had wonderful friends and had many fun escapades...often in costume!!
Her greatest joy was visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits, phone calls, card games and watching their activities. She was much loved by all!!
